Getting Legally Married in Turks & Caicos: Requirements for US Couples

Legal ceremony available

What the law requires

Turks & Caicos allows foreigners to legally marry. You must be present in the islands for at least 48 hours before applying for a marriage license. Required documents: valid passports, notarized copies of birth certificates, and proof of single status. If divorced, a certified decree absolute is needed. Marriage license costs US $250 from the Registrar General's Office in Providenciales. Two witnesses (other than the officiant) must be present. Note: same-sex marriage ceremonies cannot be performed in TCI, though a 2025 Court of Appeal ruling requires recognition of same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions for immigration purposes.

Do your guests need a visa?

No visa for US passport holders on a typical wedding-length stay in British Overseas Territory. Guests just need a passport valid for the travel dates (six months beyond, to be safe).

Marriage laws and document requirements change. Confirm with your planner or the country's consulate before you book.
