You need a 'Nulla Osta' (certificate of no impediment) from your home country's embassy in Italy, plus an Atto Notorio (sworn statement with two witnesses at a consulate), birth certificates translated and apostilled, and a formal declaration of intent at the local town hall. All documents must be translated into Italian.
