Budget snapshot

$12K-$45K estimate

Based on Puerto Rico average ($12K-$45K) for a 30-80 guest wedding

What drives this estimate
  • Guest count: a 30-80 guest party - more guests means more catering and room nights
  • Resort tier: mid properties; all-inclusive vs à la carte swings this the most
  • Season: peak months (December) cost more than shoulder season

Legal ceremony available

Puerto Rico is a US territory, so no passport is needed and the marriage is automatically recognized in all 50 states with no apostille. The license comes from the Registro Demografico (Demographic Registry) in the municipality where the ceremony takes place. Required: government photo ID, certified birth certificates, a $150 Internal Revenue stamp, and for non-residents a medical certificate from your home doctor issued within 10 days of the ceremony plus a sworn non-residency affidavit. Divorce decree required if previously married. Plan to arrive 2-3 business days early for processing.

Marriage laws and document requirements change. Confirm with your planner or the country's consulate before you book.
