Getting Legally Married in Cancun: Requirements for US Couples
Legal ceremony availableWhat the law requires
Mexico allows foreigners to legally marry. A civil ceremony performed by a licensed judge is required. You need valid passports, birth certificates (apostilled and translated to Spanish), tourist cards, and a blood test for HIV and syphilis done in Mexico within 14 days of the ceremony. Four witnesses with valid ID must be present. Most all-inclusive resorts handle the paperwork and coordination with local authorities.
Do your guests need a visa?
No visa for US passport holders on a typical wedding-length stay in Mexico. Guests just need a passport valid for the travel dates (six months beyond, to be safe).
Marriage laws and document requirements change. Confirm with your planner or the country's consulate before you book.
