Bikes, Beaches and Beer

Chris and Breanne had a fun day out for their engagement shoot. Oh, you know just a cute casual stroll by the beach, riding bikes, and hanging out at a bar. Their photographer, Christina, did the good job capturing candid shots of them. It’s nice to see pictures of couple genuinely having fun and being carefree. And here’s a tip on how to achieve candid poses: be natural, as simple as that. Start having a conversation with your loved one and for sure your photographer will be able to take good shots! Also, get to know your photographer. That can help ease up the awkwardness if there’s any.

About the Engagement Shoot:

We are a fun-loving couple that has been together for 8 years and part of why we have been together so long is how much fun we have! So this is exactly what my vision, as the bride, wanted to be. Christina nailed it by capturing us laughing and enjoying each other during the shoot.

The Location:

We chose Crown Point because it is where we have lived for the entirety of our relationship. We hang out at the beach, ride bikes, take walks, and frequent the local bars, so where else would we want to shoot?

The Outfits:

We both love color so wanted to incorporate that into the outfits. We also wanted to do a fun casual one for the bike riding as that is what we would typically wear, but also love to get dressed up and go out so chose a dressier outfit for some of the shots.

Tips on Posing For the Shoot:

Christina did very little posed shootings and just tried to capture us being “normal.” Now, of course, we don’t usually have a photographer shooting us kissing or riding our bikes, so that was a little awkward at first, but we loosened up towards the end. She did great with keeping us laughing the whole time. A tip would be to have a drink before – definitely helped ease the tension a bit! Also was helpful to do the shoot in our own “backyard” as we knew where to go and didn’t have to search for cool spots to shoot in an unfamiliar place.
