Sprinkled With Vibrance

Today, we give light to a story that’s full of love and life, a story that happened on a Sunday Funday — Dave and Gail’s big day! These two made sure that their entire wedding would bring memories that would last forever. And by forever, they meant a beach wedding sprinkled with the vibrancy of magenta, yellow, purple, and red. Understand their love and happiness on this special day by going through their gallery and dipping into their story of how they won this day! To more Sunday Fundays, you two!

Our Story

Love Does Exist! Dave and I met through a mutual friend. On the first night that Dave contacted me we chatted on the phone for 4 hours! The following 3 nights led to some conversations that lasted to the morning hours. We were in that giddy stage of getting to know each other. After several long phone conversations, we finally met for dinner at my favorite Mexican Restaurant and the rest is history!

We Are A Perfect Match

I think that Dave and I are the perfect match because we balance each other out. We are both laid back and have many of the same interests. We understand each other and accept each other for who we are.

The Proposal

Dave and I like to have Sunday Fundays. On this particular Sunday Funday, August 10th, 2014, we went and walked Grant’s Trail. Afterwards, we watched some Football and then decided to go out for dinner. We both like to try new restaurants that we have never been too. Dave chose Bristol’s Seafood and between the main course and dessert, he popped the question. It was a complete surprise and it was the best moment ever! Everything was perfect!

The Planning Process

Right away Dave and I knew we wanted a beach wedding. I immediately had my sister, who was once a wedding planner start digging into the best places to have destination weddings. It was definitely enough time to plan our destination wedding.

The Best Advice We Received

The best advice I received was to just make our special day all about Dave and I. Not to worry about other’s opinions and to do what we wanted, because it was all about us!

Tips & Tricks For Future Brides

Set a budget and make sure you have what you want. Pinterest is great for ideas and there are tons of DIY projects that can help cut costs. Just make sure you enjoy each minute of the day and don’t stress out about the small things, it really does all come together in the end.

The Challenges We Faced

The biggest challenge we faced was planning our destination wedding from several miles away and choosing vendors to work with. However, our wedding coordinator from the Sirata Beach Resort was amazing and she was great in giving us a vendor list.

The Theme

I am not sure on the theme, but I did get alot of my ideas off of Pinterest. I was going for a Vintage/Simple style.

Wedding Decor Inspiration

The inspiration behind our wedding decor was vintage but simple and classic.

Wedding Outfit Inspiration

The inspiration behind our wedding day outfits were that we wanted our bridal party to be comfortable. Since we were getting married on the beach, we really like the khaki/white shirt look for the guys and I decided to let my bridesmaids pick out the style of their dresses. I wanted them to be comfortable as well, and each dress fit their body style and personality!

As for my dress, I wanted a simple, but elegant dress that was going to not only make me look beautiful on my special day, but a dress that was a vintage style looking dress that would fit my personality and it did. I loved the lace overlay of the dress and it had a sash that was beautiful! It was actually the first dress I tried on, and after several stops at local bridal boutiques, I went with the dress that as my mom says, “lit up my face the moment I put it one” Dave of course matched his groomsmen.

Our Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Projects

The guest book was a DIY project. It was a piece of pallet wood that was painted with a heart and our initials and it said love. A dear friend of mine made it for us. We displayed it on an easel and everyone signed it and wrote us messages. We love it!

The Guest List

110 guests were invited and we had 98 guests at our wedding.

The Songs

Processional – Marry Me by Train
Bride Entry – Canon in D by Pachelbel
Sand Ceremony – Can’t help Falling in love by Elvis Presley
First Dance – All of Me by John Legend

The Honeymoon

We are going to take our honeymoon next summer, yet to be determined. We are looking at an Alaskan Cruise or traveling through Wine Country, Napa Valley.

The Next Step

Just to be able to enjoy life with each other. We really do live for the moment and we embrace each day. We feel so lucky and blessed to have each other.

Planning Advice For Couples

Be patient with each other and remember, it’s all about you two! Don’t sweat the small things, it will come together in the end.

Highlights from the Ceremony and the Reception

The highlights from the ceremony was really just being surrounded by our family and friends who traveled miles to support and celebrate with us and share our special day. There was one funny part, right when our officiant was starting the ceremony, we heard the song “When a man loves a woman” start to play, and that made everyone laugh and the nerves went away.

We did have a sand ceremony and that was really special to us. The highlight from our reception was again, just celebrating with everyone and dancing the night away. Of course, our first dance as a married couple was special. We danced to John Legend’s All of Me. Our DJ was awesome and it was just a huge party!!

Favorite Part of the Day

The favorite part of our day was when we had our “first look” photos and saw each other. It was exciting, yet emotional moment that neither of us will forget. It was special to us to have that moment to ourselves and we just embraced it!

A Memorable Moment

The part of the ceremony that Dave and I found the most memorable was our vows. We decided to write our own vows and it was something that both of us felt really expressed our love for each other. They were from the heart and that is something that we both won’t forget.
